There are plenty of picnic sites and in winter you can go ice skating and ice fishing on the lake.Sculptures have always been important elements in many theme parks, family entertainment complexes, museums, zoological parks, and even festival grounds. Children can have fun on the playgrounds or take a ride on the miniature railway and carousel. You can rent a canoe, kayak or paddle boat from Lakeside Park Rides or bring along your own boat to launch at the Lakeside Park Marina. In summer you can visit the Lakeside Park Lighthouse to get wonderful views over Lake Winnebago from the elevated observation tower and enjoy a long list of water sports. The park is a year-round attraction and each season has its own appeal. Lakeside Park is situated in Fond du Lac on the southern shore of Lake Winnebago, offering both locals and visitors over 400 acres of waterside recreational space. In winter the sea caves are decked out with incredible natural ice sculptures – when the lake freezes over you can access them on snowshoes. However, if you want to get really close up to these incredible caves you can take a guided kayak excursion with one of several local outfitters or go on a boat tour with Apostle Island Cruises. You can explore this incredible seascape on foot by hiking along the Lakeshore Trail, which reaches several overlooks above the caves within two miles from the trailhead at Meyers Road parking lot. The Bayfield Peninsula is one of the northern-most points of Wisconsin, jutting out into Lake Superior, where centuries of freezing, thawing and wave action have carved out a series of amazing caves, cliffs, arches and passageways.
